Mississippi’s Walk to Cure Diabetes Raises $550,000

We would like to thank the more than 2300 people who participated in the 10th annual Mississippi Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk to Cure Diabetes, raising more than $550,000. The proceeds raised go toward research to find a cure for diabetes and its complications.

This shows what a huge difference we can make working together," said Corporate Recruitment Chairman, Alon Bee. "Walks like this are funding research to speed the search for a cure."

The energetic and enthusiastic walkers enjoyed a beautiful day at Mayes Lake at LeFleur’s Bluff State Park complete with clowns, trains, music and face painting. Other entertainment was provided by Scott Steele, the Hinds County Hi-Steppers, and Miss Mississippi Christine Kozlowski. After the Walk they enjoyed food provided by Glucerna and Chick-Fil-A.

"I’d like to thank Alon Bee, the Mississippi Chapter Staff and all our wonderful volunteers for working so hard and making this walk so successful," said Chapter President Harold Corbin. "The complications of diabetes are devastating. The cutting-edge research funded by JDRF around the world is bringing us closer and closer to finding a cure for this devastating disease."
